Diverse Governance For Empowerment:
Boosting Board Effectiveness through Diversity was held with success on 21 July 2025.

Diverse Governance for Empowerment, organized by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) and funded by the HKEX Foundation, aims to support NGOs and social enterprises in enriching board diversity. This program also offers corporations a gateway to gain insights into social needs, ultimately creating meaningful social impact.

The first seminar, “Boosting Board Effectiveness through Diversity” took place on 21 July (Mon). We were honored to welcome Dr. Davy Wu, Programme Director of MSc in Corporate Governance and Compliance, cum Associate Director (Corporate Governance) of Centre for Corporate Governance and Financial Policy, Hong Kong Baptist University, for a thematic sharing. Following that, Dr. Gary Ng, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Federation of Handicapped Youth, Dr, Peter Wan, MH, Chairman of Heep Hong Society, and Dr. Davy Wu recounted their experiences, highlighting the challenges of recruiting new board members and achieving diversity in governance.

Dr. Davy Wu, Programme Director of the MSc in Corporate Governance and Compliance and Associate Director (Corporate Governance) at the Centre for Corporate Governance and Financial Policy, Hong Kong Baptist University, delivered a thematic presentation on “Enhancing Board Effectiveness through Diversity.” Drawing on both theoretical frameworks and real-world international examples, Dr. Wu provided valuable insights and practical strategies for diversifying board composition to enhance effectiveness.
