The Social Welfare Bureau of the Macao SAR Government organized the Seminar on Governance of Social Service Agencies on 23 January 2019 with around 300 persons attended. HKCSS participated in the event as supporting organization and invited Mr K M Chan, member of the HKCSS Institute Steering Committee, former Secretary General of Hong Kong Red Cross; Ms Jane Chan, Honorary Secretary of Fu Hong Society and Ms May Wong, the Third Vice-President of HKYWCA, as speakers. They made presentations on the roles of NGO boards, and their governance experience. Mr Philip Yuen, Service Director of the Caritas Macau, and Ms Michi Lam, Director of Social Services of União Geral das Associações dos Moradores de Macau responded on the insights that the governance model brought to the social service agencies in Macau. Finally, Ms Stella Ho, Project Director of the HKCSS NGO Governance Platform Project, shared with participants the challenges encountered in promoting good governance practice in the social services agencies in Hong Kong.
