The 11th NGO Directors’ Luncheon

Event Date

The series of NGO Directors’ Luncheon cum Sharing Session with Assistant Director of Social Welfare Department consisted of four different events focusing on elderly, youth and corrections, rehabilitation and medical social services, as well as family and child welfare services. The fourth event on family and child welfare services was held on 12 December 2018. Below are some selected photos of the event. You may want to check out the full collection of photos here

The luncheon series is sponsored by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants Charitable Fund.

Ms Irene Leung, Vice-Chairperson, HKCSS welcomed guests and speakers. She said that the luncheon served as a platform for agency representatives with shared backgrounds to get together, have focused discussion and exchange governance experience.

Ms Pang Kit-ling, Assistant Director (Family and Child Welfare), Social Welfare Department acknowledged that  non-subvented organizations played an important role in the sector. She hoped that there would be collaboraion with the NGOs to address social service needs.

The “Directors’ Dialogue” session was moderated by Mr Cliff Choi, Business Director, HKCSS (right), where Mrs Priscilla Lui, Chairperson, The Hong Kong Committee on Children's Rights (middle), and Ms Clara Law, Chairperson, Association Concerning Sexual Violence Against Women (left), discussed the challenges on governance their board faced and invited other guests to share.

A poll on “challenges the board faced” was held during the luncheon. Over 70% of respondents voted “financial sustainability for mission fulfillment” as their major challenge.

Ms Pang Kit-ling, Assistant Director (Family and Child Welfare) shared the new policy changes and key emphasis on services and welfare in the Policy Address 2018 which are related to family and children. She also introduced the resource and service network that are relevant  to non-subvented NGOs.
